"If you look at things from the point of view that you can be cause or effect, a first point is that the more one is cause the more one is likely to make things go right, and the more one is effect the more one is likely to make things go down the pan: stay behind the wheel, and you get through; let go of it, and you crash."

A foundation of Evil is to regard oneself as having enemies, perhaps oneself included, and to work to make them EFFECT.
A foundation of Good is to regard oneself as having friends, oneself included, and to work to make them CAUSE.
The enemies of you, of Humanity and of Life, consciously or instinctively, know that very well, therefore all their strategies and tactics fundamentally aim at making us less cause and more effect, towards total effect.
We therefore must be aware of that, and aim at being personally and collectively more cause and less effect, towards total cause.
This includes remaining always vigilant in order to be cause over what you are the effect of, too: when you discover you are the effect of something, be aware of that and study how to be more and more cause over it.
A typical example of this is that we are the effect of our ideas, considerations, decisions, etc., and thus we must remain cause over them; we must perform regular maintenance of them, which consists of reappraising them regularly in light of the new facts and informations received and verified.
An example of being cause over what one can be the effect of are motivational materials. Aphorisms, quotes, musics, videos, articles, speeches, seminars: a lot of material is produced to motivate positively.
Except when the material fails to resonate due to a significant disconnect with those engaging with it, in all other cases the effect is very positive. So, what are we doing when we motivate ourselves? We are being cause over something that has an effect on us: our own mind!
