Jaguar CEO quits! After destroying the brand!

He resigns, yes... but not before completing his mission...

Transcrption:

Right, welcome ladies and gentlemen.
Jaguar, the mighty, has fallen.
I know, I know. I'm covering Jaguar again. It's just been a fascinating journey to, uh, to watch and unfold.

Well, the CEO has quit. He's left after 35 year career thanking, objectively thanking the brand. He's left. He's gone.
Interesting, right? So, we're going to dive into this today.

Please do hit subscribe if you're new here or indeed a returning viewer that's not yet subscribed.

I will say this as well for those that are wondering like why I'm covering this.
I like cars, obviously Datsun and blah blah blah. I also have a car channel which I will leave linked down below. Please do go and check it out if you like really cool retro classic Japanese cars because that's mainly what I'm into.

But anyway, let's dive into this, shall we? So, uh, Autocar Professional has the exclusive on this. I'm also... I have a source, uh that, that may have access to the letter, by the way. So although this is an exclusive from Autocar Professional, this was alerted to me by my source who is now also trying to retain the letter on the back of it.
But I need to jump on this because the CEO, you know, CEO type deal if I get the letter. Maybe I'll do an update video. Who knows? But anyway, Autocar Professional Exclusive.

Adrian Mardell, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, retires after 35 year career.
So during Adrian Mardell's tenure, JLR reached key business milestones. Did they? Did they? Including a return to positive free cash flow. Not for Jaguar, though. Uh achieving net, net zero automotive debt by the end of fiscal year '25.
All right. Well, yeah, maybe. Is that also because they've stopped producing cars?
Oh, they also there were some other milestones, you know, like shoving Jaguar Land Rover in gay pride parades for some unbeknownsted reason. Like why? Oh, because he probably goes that way. I'm sure.
It's just nonsense. It's absolute diligent nonsense. Loads of DEI initiatives. Uh staff not being happy working there. You know, JLR working with the unions. I've got loads of dirt on Jaguar. It's mad how much information I've got.

So, Adrian Mardell, Jaguar Land Rovers chief executive officer, has announced his decision to retire, ending a distinguished... choice of words... distinguished by what, good sir? Cuz he's got... again, remember, like... distinguished by what? Because he's going out with the announcement of the new Jaguar being like that.
That's it. Like, that's what's going to be tied to his name. that last Jaguar that everyone hates, that rebrand that everyone hates.
I wouldn't say distinguished, not in a positive sense.

Anyway, uh but, anyway, distinguished 35 year career with the company. The company confirmed that his successor will be announced in due course. Quote, "Adrian Mardell has expressed his desire to retire from JLR after three years as CEO and 35 years with the company. His successor will be announced in due course", a Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson said in an official statement to Autocar India.
So "Adrian Mardell joined Jaguar Land Rover in 1990 and has held a range of senior financial roles over three decades. He became deputy CFO and operations controller in 2008 and later serving as chief transformation officer where he launched key companywide programs."
Hm. Very very interesting, isn't it? Very very interesting, key chief transformation officer which transformed it into a dead brand. So well done mate!
"... aimed at short-term profit and cash flow improvement and accelerated focused on long-term operational efficiency. In June 2019, he was appointed chief financial officer leading the financial management of the business to support shareholder value and growth ambitions." And now he's completely divebombed it.
"So Mardell took over as interim CEO in November 2022 following Thierry Boler... Boler's departure, and was formally appointed to the role in July 2023. His leadership coincided with a pivotal phase in JLR's transformation journey."
Oh yeah, what's that? What's that mate? "Driving financial recovery, strategic clarity, and electrification." Oh yeah, just move into bloody electric cars that no one, no one wants. No one wants this crap.
"Under his steward... stewardship," - I can't speak today - "JLR achieved significant business milestones, including a return to free cash flow." I mean, all that stuff's good, by the way. Like, that is good. Free cash flow. Like, who, who can come... you can't poo poo that? That's good.

But his entire tenure will be marred by the fact he's launched Jaguar into this weird rebrand that everyone hates. So well done.
Uh, so "the turnaround was supported by strong global demand for the Range Rover Defender and Range Rover Sport lineups, operational efficiencies, and tighter cost controls." Basically penny pinching.
"Mardell also advanced the company's re-imagine strategy." Oh yeah, notice how that's way down the bottom there. "Repositioning JLR as a modern luxury brand and committing to an all-electric Jaguar lineup and electrified Land Rover models in the coming years." No one wants that. No one wants that.
"He pushed forward platform consolidation, plant modernization." This has also led to people having reduced hours by the way. So losing significant amounts of money for workers, you know, "plant workers and software innovation while ensuring stability during supply chain disruptions." Brilliant.
"In recent quarters, Mardell also had to navigate geopolitical and trade related uncertainties." Yet that's still really bad. That's still really bad because they, they got a plant over in Europe. So they're now with the tariffs. They're screwed. Uh including the rising complexity around global EV tariffs. Oh yeah, especially in the UK EU China corridor.
Yeah, that's because their, their electrified element is basically just taken from China. And with the US which continues to affect automakers with international manufacturing footprints, JLR was compelled to revise its fiscal year '26 EBIT margin guidance, uh, sharply downwards to 5 to 7% well below the prior target of 10% largely due to US tariff pressures on vehicles and components with Chinese content.
That's cuz they've moved to EVs and it's all from China. And again, no one wants it.
I'm being hyper I'm being, like, dramatic. Obviously, some people want it.
Um, so even though it's manufactured in the UK or EU, they don't, as far as I know, they don't actually manufacture anything specifically in terms of the EV content here. They basically put everything together. the main manufacturing stuff, although that could be considered manufacturing, but the main, um, sort of innovation manufacturing component of the electric drivetrain isn't here. Uh, as well as elevated investments in electrification and ongoing product transition.

So JLR is expected to announce interim or permanent leadership in the coming weeks as it prepares for the next stage of its transformation. I bet you anything that'll be Raw Dong Lover, sorry, Raw Don Glover. His name is actually Rodon Glover. Rod Dong Lover. That's, that's his actual name. Not Rodong Glover. His actual name is Rodon Glover. Roden Glover. I bet you it would be him.

He's a, this company's like blows, man. Blows massive peen. Super super lame. Um there you go.
I mean, look, you can't... yeah, sure, people will go, "Yeah, but he was only entering blah blah blah." Look, if it was successful, do you think he would go right now, would you think he'd see through that transformation? I think he'd probably see through it.
So, as much as I'm not going to say, you know, as much as I can't guarantee it's because of this, I mean, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's probably a bloody duck, isn't it? So, he's probably left because of this. And this is, this will be forever to his name.

And maybe with someone else coming in, they could pivot ever so slightly. Maybe that's why as well, but who knows? Remains to be seen. Very comical though.

Hit subscribe if you're new here, guys. Do turn the bell notifications on. Uh if you like Datsuns and stuff, I'm selling these now. Dats and coasters down below on my shop. Bye now.
